The ghostly Eastern temple is shrouded in stillness - even the water stream seems frozen, and only moonlight shimmers on the majestic gate that opens the passage to other worlds. What kind of guest could arrive in the City through this gate, having gone along the lunar path that hovers over the abyss of eternity?

- Location Description

The Moon Gate is a Chinese location in the City. It is directly connected to the Emperor's Palace, with a bridge connected to the gate itself. Its design features show some similarity to the other Chinese locations that are present in Shadow City.

From left to right, there is a small house and some stone architecture. These cover the view of the vast hills behind the cliff the Gate resides on, and can be seen on the rest of the scene. Items can be found sticking to these objects or laying on the ledge that the molds are on. The center of the screen is the main focal point with its bright yellow lighting, containing a riverway (possibly the water source to the Pagoda of Legends), the titular Moon Gate, and the Emperor's Palace beyond that, with items relatively easy to see. Lastly, the sky and bonsai tree on the right side should be checked, with darker hues, more items can tend to blend in these positions.

The investigation revolves around the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Rat. This year the City's Chinese twin princesses, seen before in a feud during the Emperor's Palace case have forgiven each other. As part of doing so, this year they wanted to spend their new year with their parents, due to arrive from the Moon Gate. However, a monster interfered and prevented their journey. The player will team up with Mei and Yui and find a way to activate the Gate to guide their parents' spirits.

Ranks[]

Ranks

This table shows the energy, skeleton keys, experience, and coins for each rank of the Moon Gate. These are the values for a search in any of the exploration modes; an anomaly will yield increased rewards depending on the anomaly. An active booster or a charge from a visitor may likewise change the costs and/or the rewards, with the exception of Skeleton Keys. During an event, if this location is one of the early unlock locations, the values may change for the duration of the event; exact values dependent on the player level.
